I welcome this practical, accessible and punchy book by Steve and
Mandy Briars. They are practitioners, not armchair theorists;
in these pages you will find countless nuggets that will
shine as you determine
to make that small group the best it can be. Perhaps Tuesday
night is homegroup night; you’re the leader, and Tuesday cometh.
Well, stop reading this foreword now. Get on with this
great book.

Just because Homegroups take place in the home there is a natural
tendency to believe that running one is as easy as hosting
any social gathering of friends. The Briars' have brought great insight,
gentle humour, good examples , a sense of practicality and above
all solutions. A task that will be carried out with far greater ease
and success as an enriching experience for the leader if every pearl of
the wisdom in this book is absorbed and applied to this challenging
and rewarding experience.

Wow -- 'authentic' is right! This is a guide for homegroup leaders
and organizers that is intensely practical and pulls no
punches. The Briars will keep you entertained while you read alright,
but don't expect them to let you get away with any lazy, fluffy practices!
Their guide is Bible-centered but contains all sorts of hints, directions,
warnings and examples from contemporary practice, including
guidance on Bible Study aids and templates of forms. If you're involved
with leading or organizing homegroups, you'll want to send the Briars
flowers in gratitude for this encyclopaedia/recipe book.

In a fragmented and relationally depleted society, small groups are
one of the foundational building blocks of 21st Century
church. Homegroups: The Authentic Guide, is full of wisdom,
ideas and practical insight, should be viewed as essential reading for anyone wanting
to begin or develop a homegroup ministry within their congregation.

Just a Thought...
A good leader is one who knows when and how to spread the joy and the load. Do not be a sponge and soak up all the responsibility.
